Founder of the Cocktails For You profile – “If you want to be successful, you need to surround yourself with positive people.”

During this year’s Bar Convent Berlin, our school manager Filip Sarilar spoke with the bartender and founder of the Cocktails for you. His name is Eddie Rudzinskas, and he is a person who supports all bartenders and shares bar news through his Instagram profile. People love him because he is honest and always smiling. He told our Filip about his beginnings and how the story with social networks began. One thing is certain, Eddie is a really smiling and cheerful person that we see on social networks.

1.    We’re gonna start this as Eddie, an Instagram Daddy, definitely. You’re the one that started all that era with the cocktails and stuff like that, because you are the creator of Cocktails for you. Can you talk about your humbling beginnings? How did it start?

Humbling beginnings. What it was, what was humbling beginnings. It started as my personal diary. It wasn’t just about me, about the community. It was just me as a bartender posting pictures of events, masterclasses, competitions and accentures like that. But over the years it just grew out into a sort of more and more thing. So they just grow out, even out of me. So it’s not only about me. And that is how Cocktails for you is born. Here you go. Counting 1.8 million now.

2.    You’re definitely a man of big carisma. People, when they see you, always make a smile because you are smiling.

Well, the best advice is one thing you have to know. When you’re on social media you’re, or fake it or you’re not real. And when people meet it, they expect them to see what they see online. If you’re a different person, you’re f*cked. Well, and then if you see a man being drinking and you see me in real life, I’m still having a drink now in the glass. So I haven’t changed. Well, fortunately, I’m 36 years old. I was still acting like a kid. 

Filip: How many years? 

36. I know I look younger. Thank you. Thank you for complimenting me. 

3.    We see you in Berlin, we see you in London. We see you everywhere. Where is the energy coming from?  

Ohh well, in the 1st place, I didn’t see you in London (laugh). Where is the energy coming from? The secret of energy is coffee in the morning.

Filip: Is there a little bit of Grappa in your morning coffee?

Well, listen, you asked me about energy. I told you it was a coffee. What goes in the coffee? It’s my own business. (laugh) I don’t do drugs, just in case if you take my words and put them upside down. I really think what gives good energy is a community and the right people. Once you can separate the negative people away and everything else is fine because there are people who like to hear you, people who like to communicate and there,people too hungry to listen. So they want to stay humble, stay with them. It’s cool. Just stay away from negative people. Yeah, yeah. Then they’re never going to be f*cking happy. 

4.    With the exceptional work, I see that you put all also other bartenders on the main spots, which is really nice because you’re not sharing just your story, but the liquid stories and other stories.

There are two reasons behind being good at supporting the community, which is really, really cool. People appreciate it. And another thing, you can do everything by yourself. Also, if you want to be successful, make sure people around you are successful and share them. In our industry, you can only deal with other bartenders. 

5.    Have you been to Croatia? I think you have.

Ohh yes, I’ve been to Croatia. The last member I have Croatian is with the receptionist. So the last time they were receptionists, because I checked, came in a hotel and came back to the hotel at 11:00 o’clock in the morning. And check out at 11:05. So, in Croatia I only took my luggage. Yeah, I couldn’t leave my luggage and I come back to pick up my luggage. So it was like a hotel storage.

6.    So do we see you maybe in Croatia running around?

I think so. I really want to go back to Croatia. I really want to go to see it because last time I went it was like a very short, very short time and I cann’t judge a country or community by just making a 5 hour trip when you go in the piss. 

7.    Your favorite drink.

Champagne. I love beer. Ohh depends. I’d say the drink is a very very sort of overrated thing. It always depends on the bubbles. They always make me happy. People get used to it drinking bubbles just to celebrate. But, you don’t need to drink bubbles just to celebrate. You can celebrate all the time. 

8.    Can you explain to us that thought a bit more?

 I don’t really know but the drink was like I said. I’m a sort of gin and tonic guy. I love the really good red wine. I love champagne. I love beer. I think it’s a mood thing, as you know I mean.  Even if I say I’m a big wine enthusiast, if I go to a nightclub I’m not going to f*cking order a glass of red wine. We’re probably going for shots. You know what I mean..
